Baseball Game Preview: New Brighton Lions vs. Ambridge Bridgers

The New Brighton Lions will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Ambridge Bridgers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between New Brighton and Ellwood City, and Ellwood City kept the tradition alive. New Brighton came up short against Ellwood City on Tuesday, falling 19-6.

Jaleb Bailey was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Casey Bloom was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Ambridge never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past Bishop Canevin 13-0.

Liam Baker was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Janicki, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI.

Ambridge lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Canevin didn't launched any home runs.

New Brighton might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Ambridge in their previous matchup back in May of 2021. Can New Brighton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
