Basketball Game Preview: Litchfield Purple Panthers vs. Triad Knights

The Litchfield Purple Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Triad Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Litchfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season.

Litchfield's tournament run continued when they took on Carlinville on Saturday. The game between Litchfield and Carlinville didn't end well, with Litchfield falling 64-48. The Purple Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The losing side was boosted by Nate Schaake, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds. He has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Keenan Logan was another key player, putting up ten points.

Even though they lost, Litchfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Triad posted their closest win since November 30th on Sunday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lincoln 39-37. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Triad is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Litchfield, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Litchfield lost to Triad on the road by a decisive 54-40 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2022. Can Litchfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
