Southern Lee hasn't had much luck against Union Pines recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will face off against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m.
Southern Lee is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game last Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to Hoke County. Cavaliers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bucks since last Tuesday.
Southern Lee saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Bisson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, Union Pines entered their tilt with Wayne on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Eagles 11-1. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by exactly ten runs.
Kelsey Knight spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
At the plate, Union Pines got a massive performance out of Elizabeth Andrews, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Caidence Crabtree, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Union Pines kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive games.
Union Pines' record is now 13-8. As for Southern Lee, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Southern Lee has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Union Pines struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Southern Lee might still be hurting after the 16-2 defeat they got from Union Pines in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
