Basketball Game Preview: West Elk Patriots vs. Udall Eagles

The West Elk Patriots will venture away from home to take on the Udall Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Elk is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season.

West Elk's tournament run continued when they took on Argonia on Saturday. West Elk came out on top against Argonia by a score of 49-39. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

It was another big night for Maddex Moreno, who shot 5-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. The game was his 11th in a row with at least ten points. Jacen Gaston also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Meanwhile, Udall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 53-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Goessel. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly nine points.

The victory got West Elk back to even at 6-6. As for Udall, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

West Elk strolled past Udall in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 52-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Elk since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
