Basketball Recap: Palmdale Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when Palmdale challenged Knight on Wednesday. The Palmdale Falcons were dealt a 110-42 defeat at the hands of the Knight Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 959th, while the Hawks are ranked 146th).

Carlos Rodriguez and Anthony Delouth certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Rodriguez went 7 of 15 on his way to 18 points, while Delouth posted ten points. What's more, Delouth also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023.

Even though they lost, Palmdale was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Palmdale dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for Knight, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

Palmdale didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-47 victory against Antelope Valley on the 13th. As for Knight, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 81-37 win against Quartz Hill on the 13th.
