Basketball Recap: Lara Gregory Key Part of a Team Effort in Spartans Win

Denver Waldorf won the last time they faced Denver Jewish Day and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Denver Waldorf Spartans walked away with a 36-27 win over the Denver Jewish Day Tigers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Denver Waldorf to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lara Gregory, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Gregory has become a key player for Denver Waldorf: the team is undefeated when she posts at least eight boards, but 2-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Annie O'Meara, who posted nine points and four blocks.

Denver Waldorf smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Despite the defeat, Denver Jewish Day saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kaitlin Schatz scored 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Schatz is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

The victory got Denver Waldorf back to even at 6-6. As for Denver Jewish Day, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Denver Waldorf wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 39-38 loss against Front Range Baptist on the 7th. As for Denver Jewish Day, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-17 win against Victory Prep Academy on the 6th.
