Softball Game Preview: La Grange Leopards vs. Caldwell Hornets

The La Grange Leopards are taking a road trip to square off against the Caldwell Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. La Grange's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Caldwell's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

La Grange is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Giddings just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 7-4 to the Buffaloes.

Madi Adams was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Landri Hernandez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Caldwell didn't have quite enough to beat Smithville on Tuesday and fell 4-2. That's two games in a row now that the Hornets have lost by exactly two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Caldwell and nudges their season record down to 12-10-1. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for La Grange, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.

La Grange couldn't quite get it done against Caldwell in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-4. Can the Leopards avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
