Softball Game Preview: Elysian Fields Yellowjackets vs. Carlisle Indians

For the second straight game, Elysian Fields will face off against Carlisle. The Yellowjackets will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Indians at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Elysian Fields has three straight wins, Carlisle has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Elysian Fields' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over Carlisle.

Harper Day was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Libby Simms and Madi Giddens did most of the damage at the plate: Simms went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Giddens got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Simms a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kirsten Commander, who earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.

Elysian Fields hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 7-1-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory got Elysian Fields back to even at 15-15-1. As for Carlisle, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
