Basketball Recap: Shining Light Academy Drops Season-High Score on Calvary Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shining Light Academy). They put the hurt on the Calvary Christian Cougar with a sharp 74-48 victory on Tuesday. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 26 points or more this season.

Zach Evaro was his usual excellent self, going 5-for-9 en route to 14 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.1% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Watlington, who shot 71% from the field to rack up 10 points and three steals.

Shining Light Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've passed the ball that well.

Shining Light Academy pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points on average over those games. As for Calvary Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Shining Light Academy will challenge Shining Light Baptist Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will be up against the Sharks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 55.63 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Calvary Christian, they will square off against Fayetteville Street Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
