Baseball Game Preview: Greenback Cherokees vs. University School Buccaneers

The Greenback Cherokees are taking a road trip to take on the University School Buccaneers on Wednesday. Greenback is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Greenback's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Coalfield hitters got past them. The Cherokees lost 10-2 to the Yellow Jackets on Saturday. The Cherokees' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, University School waltzed into their contest on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Huskies. Considering the Buccaneers have won 15 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

University School's win bumped their record up to 22-6. As for Greenback, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.

Greenback suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to University School in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Cherokees avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
