Recap: Tipton Cardinals vs. Jefferson City Jays
The Tipton Cardinals waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Jefferson City 65-48. Given Tipton's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Jefferson City is ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tipton was led to victory by Charlee Bailey and Ava Schlotzhauer. Bailey dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 assists, while Schlotzhauer dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Bailey posted eight or more assists. Courtney Edwards was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Tipton's victory bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Jefferson City, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Tipton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lincoln at 6:45 p.m. on January 18th. The timing isn't great for Lincoln: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Tipton has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. Jefferson City will take on Lee's Summit West at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
