Basketball Game Preview: Socorro Bulldogs vs. Montwood Rams

Socorro is 2-8 against Montwood since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Socorro Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Montwood Rams at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Socorro is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Friday. They fell 49-37 to Coronado. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1021st, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 192nd).

Despite the defeat, Socorro had strong showings from Isaias Morales, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 16 points and six boards, and Danny Delgado, who went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points and three steals. Delgado has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Meanwhile, Montwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 36-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eastwood. The game marked the Rams' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Socorro's defeat dropped their record down to 5-23. As for Montwood, their loss dropped their record down to 20-9.

Things could have been worse for Socorro, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-34 loss to Montwood in their previous matchup back in January. Can Socorro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
