Recap: Loomis Wolves vs. Elm Creek Buffaloes

After a string of four wins, the Loomis Wolves's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 59-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elm Creek. Loomis found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up seven fewer assists than your opponent.

Loomis lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cale Nelson, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Nelson's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Essex, who scored 14 points along with three steals.

Elm Creek's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quin Oberg, who scored 20 points. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Oberg has scored at least 25% of Elm Creek's points. Another player making a difference was Kade Sindt, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.

Loomis' defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Elm Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Loomis will be playing at home against Arapahoe at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Arapahoe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. Elm Creek won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Wilcox-Hildreth at 4:30 p.m. on January 6th. Wilcox-Hildreth will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Elm Creek is ranked 72nd).
