Baseball Recap: Sebastopol Comes Up Short

Sebastopol fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Eupora on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 20-15 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Colby Dooley was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Lowry Moore led a balanced group of hitters, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Alden Wilson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Sebastopol kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Sebastopol's defeat dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Eupora, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Sebastopol and Eupora should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings. Sebastopol (ranked 105th) will meet Scott Central (ranked 246th) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Eupora will face off against Bruce at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday up 113 places (104 vs. 217).
