Baseball Recap: Cumby Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Cumby waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Fruitvale Bobcats with a sharp 14-2 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 21-0 last Tuesday.

Jayden Evans made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Cumby got a massive performance out of Easton Elmore, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave Elmore a new career-high. Osvaldo Ruiz was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Cumby always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .586 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Cumby's record now sits at 4-14. As for Fruitvale, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
