Baseball Recap: Frontier Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Frontier and Stockdale meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Titans took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. The Titans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 9-5.

Ronnie Machado was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Frontier is 4-2 when Machado posts two or more runs, but 3-7-1 otherwise. Hunter Hansford also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Frontier has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9-1 record this season. As for Stockdale, their record now sits at 12-4-1.

Coming up, Frontier will take on Liberty at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Titans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Stockdale, they will challenge Garces Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
