Basketball Recap: Centura Comes Up Short

Centura was the 54-35 winner over Centennial when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Centura Centurions were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 37-36 to the Centennial Broncos.

Centura's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kennedy Davis, who posted 15 points and five steals, and Taya Taukiuvea, who had nine points along with five boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Davis a new career-high in steals. Hope Mcdonald also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Centura has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Centennial, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.

Centura wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 47-28 victory against Cozad on the 18th. Centennial has also already played their next contest, a 41-27 loss against Central City on the 18th.
