Basketball Game Preview: Brookhaven Panthers vs. South Pike Eagles

The Brookhaven Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the South Pike Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Brookhaven has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Brookhaven turned things around against Humphreys County on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 66-52 victory over the Cowboys. The Panthers pushed the score to 58-33 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cowboys cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, South Pike came up short against Jim Hill on Thursday and fell 48-36. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Tigers are ranked 33rd).

This is the second loss in a row for South Pike and nudges their season record down to 3-9. As for Brookhaven, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Brookhaven was able to grind out a solid win over South Pike in their previous meeting back in November, winning 60-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
