The Poly Bears will venture away from home to challenge the Liberty Bison at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Liberty will be up against a hot Poly team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. The Bears were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Valley View on Friday. Poly's win was all the more impressive since the Eagles were averaging only 3.83 runs allowed on the season.
Marley Audoma was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katelyn Cortez, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Violet Espin, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Poly always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley View only posted an OBP of .300.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Liberty, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over Orange Vista on Friday. The Bison haven't had any issues with the Coyotes recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Cameryn Rutkoff was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Yasmine Lopez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Poly's record is now 17-7. As for Liberty, their record now sits at 11-6.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Poly hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've averaged .423. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Poly came out on top in a nail-biter against Liberty in their previous matchup on April 10th, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
