Softball Recap: Skyline Snags 13th Win in Last 14 Games

It's playoff time, and Skyline had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Mount Si Wildcats with a sharp 12-4 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Abby Haapala spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 14 Ks.

At the plate, Skyline let Elle Sexton and Nazli Chavez run wild. Sexton went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Chavez went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Dahlgren, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Skyline has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Si, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5.

Skyline does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mount Si, they will square off against North Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
