Softball Game Preview: Menlo-Atherton Bears vs. San Lorenzo Valley Cougars

The Menlo-Atherton Bears will head out on the road to take on the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Menlo-Atherton easily dispatched Design Tech on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Menlo-Atherton fell just short of Palo Alto by a score of 5-3 on Wednesday. The loss was the Bears' first of the season.

Juliana Pandolfo and Kylie Cox did some serious damage despite the final result: Pandolfo scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Cox scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, San Lorenzo Valley came up short against Carmel on Friday and fell 10-7.

Menlo-Atherton's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for San Lorenzo Valley, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
