Recap: Saint Andrew's Scots vs. Pine Crest Panthers
It was a good run, but the Saint Andrew's Scots unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 50-38 to Pine Crest. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Saint Andrew's came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Pine Crest is ranked 370th).
Saint Andrew's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Savanna Smith, who scored 16 points. Smith continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Smith, who scored 9 points along with 7 assists and 5 steals.
Saint Andrew's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Pine Crest, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saint Andrew's will challenge North Broward Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pine Crest, they will head out on the road to face off against American Heritage at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. American Heritage is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
