Softball Recap: Normal University Takes a Loss

Normal University was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 8-0 to the Tolono Unity Rockets. The Pioneers were not able to make up for their loss to the Rockets from their previous meeting back in June of 2021.

Normal University got a good showing from Makenzie Post, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Post has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

Normal University's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Tolono Unity, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Normal University will head out to challenge Williamsville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Tolono Unity, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Oakwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
