Basketball Game Preview: Hawthorne Cougars vs. Beverly Hills Normans

Hawthorne hasn't had much luck against Beverly Hills recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Hawthorne Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Beverly Hills Normans at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Monday, Hawthorne had to suffer through a 88-61 loss at the hands of Culver City. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 560th, while the Centaurs are ranked 41st).

Meanwhile, Beverly Hills didn't have too much trouble with Lincoln last Monday as they won 63-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Normans.

Beverly Hills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Hawthorne, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Hawthorne was dealt a bruising 83-42 defeat at the hands of Beverly Hills in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Hawthorne avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
