Baseball Game Preview: Pine River Area Bucks vs. Meridian Mustangs

The Pine River Area Bucks are taking a road trip to square off against the Meridian Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Pine River Area barely beat McBain the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bucks blew past the Ramblers 11-3 on Monday. The Bucks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Meridian came out on top against Sault Area on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Blue Devils a 10-0 shutout.

Brady Bowen and Robbie Edwards did most of the damage at the plate: Bowen went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Edwards got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Edwards a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Karter Schafer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meridian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meridian's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Pine River Area, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-4.
