Volleyball Recap: Port Clinton Comes Up Short

Port Clinton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the St. Joseph Central Catholic Crimson Streaks, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Redskins of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

While Port Clinton was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into St. Joseph Central Catholic's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-15, 25-19.

Taylor Werling paced Port Clinton's offense, picking up four kills. Werling got some help from Evalee Cross and her five assists. Finally, Marissa Frohne kept Port Clinton's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Port Clinton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3.

Coming up, Port Clinton will venture away from home to square off against Vermilion at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, they will host Gibsonburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
