Volleyball Recap: Port Clinton Redskins vs. St. Joseph Central Catholic Crimson Streaks
Port Clinton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against the St. Joseph Central Catholic Crimson Streaks, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Redskins of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.
Port Clinton took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-15, 25-19.
Taylor Werling paced Port Clinton's offense, picking up four kills. Werling got some help from Evalee Cross and her five assists. Finally, Marissa Frohne kept Port Clinton's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.
St. Joseph Central Catholic can attribute much of their success to Cadence Waleryszak, who had five digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Waleryszak a new career-high. Vivian Knisely also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.
Port Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.
Port Clinton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Vermilion on the 7th. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Gibsonburg on the 9th.
