Softball Recap: East Bay Indians vs. Mitchell Mustangs

After flying high against Auburndale on Saturday, East Bay came back down to earth. The East Bay Indians wound up on the wrong side of a tough 9-3 walloping at the hands of the Mitchell Mustangs on Saturday.

Molly Johnson spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and eight unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Aisha Duncan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a stolen base, and an RBI. Kamiira Austin was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

On Mitchell's side, they let Audrey Midyett and Raigan Silliman loose on the outfield. Midyett scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Silliman scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Brenna Rush, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with an RBI.

East Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Mitchell, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

East Bay will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Lennard at 7:00 p.m. Lennard knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy run totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully East Bay likes a good challenge. As for Mitchell, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wiregrass Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on April 3rd.
