Football Recap: Ryder Sawyer Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Phoenix + How To Watch

Douglas's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They took down the Phoenix Pirates 25-7. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won four in a row.

Douglas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryder Sawyer led the charge by throwing for 236 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 59 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards Sawyer has posted since back in August of 2024. Douglas also got a significant boost from Keith Taylor, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Douglas' defense and their four sacks. Reese Willis was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

The victory got Douglas back to even at 1-1. As for Phoenix, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.

Douglas has already played their next contest, a 40-27 defeat against Pleasant Hill on the 19th. As for Phoenix, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 26-14 win against Sutherlin on the 19th.
