Basketball Recap: Zionsville Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

There's no place like home for Zionsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They managed a 54-50 win over the Franklin Central Flashes on Saturday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Mckenzie Chapman was her usual excellent self, going 10 for 19 on her way to 23 points and seven rebounds. Caroline Sampson was another key player, putting up four points and nine boards.

When it comes to explaining why Franklin Central lost, don't look at Payton Duvall. Despite the final result, she went 8 of 12 on her way to 16 points in addition to seven boards and four blocks. The matchup was Duvall's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Graves, who posted 16 points.

Zionsville's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-7. As for Franklin Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Zionsville and Greensburg will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Greensburg's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Franklin Central, they will square off against Borden at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Franklin Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.
