Football Game Preview: May River Sharks vs. Bishop England Battling Bishops

The May River Sharks will face off against the Bishop England Battling Bishops at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in May River's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups.

On Friday, May River made easy work of Colleton County and carried off a 35-12 win. The victory continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won eight in a row.

May River got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tony Cooper out in front who rushed for 72 yards and a pair of TDs on only six carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Head, who gained 111 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: May River was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 190 rushing yards in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three games, Bishop England finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were beaten by Hilton Head Island 41-10. The matchup marked the Battling Bishops' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

May River's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Bishop England, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 5-1.

Everything came up roses for May River against Bishop England when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 35-8 win. In that game, the Sharks amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
