Recap: Mineral Ridge Rams vs. Columbiana Clippers
The Mineral Ridge Rams had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They managed a 45-39 win over Columbiana. The score was all tied up 15-15 at the break, but Mineral Ridge was the better team in the second half.
It was another big night for Ava Hulett, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Gianna Gilbert was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Columbiana still got an impressive performance from Ellie Venezia, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of megan moser, who scored 12 points.
Mineral Ridge's win bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Columbiana, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mineral Ridge the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome McDonald at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. McDonald is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Columbiana, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lowellville at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Lowellville is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
