Softball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends South Central's Winning Streak

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, South Central couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 6-3 to the Southwood Knights on Saturday. The Satellites' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Lexi Johnson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 24 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Grace Shukitis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

South Central's loss dropped their record down to 20-7-1. As for Southwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 21-10 record this season.

South Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southwood, they have already played their next contest, a 7-0 defeat against North Newton on the 7th.
