Softball Recap: Thatcher Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when Thatcher duked it out with Rio Rico on Tuesday. The Eagles lost 13-6 to the Hawks. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kacee McCluskey was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaylee Hughes, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Thatcher's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Rio Rico, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Thatcher will challenge Safford at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Rio Rico, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 25-0 win against Amphitheater on the 2nd.
