Softball Preview: Newman Fighting Cardinals vs. Edgar Wildcats

Newman and Edgar are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Newman Fighting Cardinals will head out on the road to square off against the Edgar Wildcats at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Newman is no doubt hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Last Tuesday, Newman suffered a rough 12-4 loss at the hands of Auburndale. That's two games in a row now that Newman has lost by exactly eight runs.

Meanwhile, Edgar came into Monday's match having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by a 13-0 margin over Prentice on Monday. Edgar's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Edgar got a massive performance out of Emery Borchardt, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Lemmer, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Edgar, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-5.
