Softball Recap: Buckingham Charter's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to 11

With a playoff win on the line, Buckingham Charter rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They never let the Golden Sierra Grizzlies get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The Knights are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 11 straight.

Golden Sierra's batters probably weren't too happy with Haley Griffin, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 16 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Griffin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tamia Cendejas was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Juliette Spencer was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Buckingham Charter's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Golden Sierra, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-7.

Looking ahead, Buckingham Charter will face off against Big Valley Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. Golden Sierra does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
