Soccer Recap: Evergreen Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

With a playoff win on the line, Evergreen rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They never let the Montbello Warriors get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Given Evergreen's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Montbello are ranked 85th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Evergreen is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4-1 record this season. As for Montbello, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 8-8-1 record.

Coming up, Evergreen will square off against Cheyenne Mountain on Saturday. Cheyenne Mountain's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Montbello does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
