Softball Recap: New Rochelle Comes Up Short

New Rochelle extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They lost 13-1 to the White Plains Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Huguenots of the 7-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2019.

As for White Plains, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games.

For White Plains' part, Alexis Tighe made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Tighe has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other pitching news, Kailyn Street looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, White Plains got a massive performance out of Ava Galligani, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Galligani has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Neela Older, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and two doubles.

Coming up, New Rochelle will head out to face off against Pelham Memorial at 4:30 p.m. on the 24th. As for White Plains, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-0 victory against Harrison on the 17th.
