Baseball Recap: Battle Mountain Wins Going Away Against Sierra Lutheran

Battle Mountain barely beat Sierra Lutheran the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Longhorns put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 9-3 win on Saturday. The Longhorns have beaten the Falcons the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Falcons has come to flipping the script.

Keegan Peasnall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Perrone, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Angel Guadarrama, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Battle Mountain's record is now 7-9. As for Sierra Lutheran, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Falcons beat Battle Mountain by a score of 9-3 later that day.
