Basketball Recap: Beachwood Gets the Win

On Wednesday, the Beachwood Bison escaped with a win against the Valley Forge Patriots by the margin of a single free throw, 39-38.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Beachwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zo? Walters, who posted 23 points in addition to six boards and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Walters has scored at least a third of Beachwood's points. Another player making a difference was Goldi Aschkenasy, who earned eight points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.

Beachwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Valley Forge lost, don't look at Gracie Kercher. Despite the final result, she put up 17 points. Those 17 points gave Kercher a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Plum, who scored eight points.

Beachwood has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Valley Forge, they are on a 31-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-22.

Beachwood has already played their next game, a 57-27 defeat against Chippewa on the 15th. As for Valley Forge, they will face off against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on February 19th. One thing working in Washington's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
