Volleyball Game Preview: Deuel Cardinals vs. Roncalli Cavaliers

Deuel is 0-10 against Roncalli since September of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Cardinals will square off against the Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Deuel took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Florence/Henry, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cardinals have posted since September 18th.

Deuel wouldn't go down easily and took Florence/Henry into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-18, 25-21, 21-25, 15-9.

Meanwhile, Roncalli entered their tilt with Milbank on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Bulldogs.

Roncalli walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 21-25, 25-15, 25-17.

Roncalli's victory bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Deuel, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-17.

Deuel might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Roncalli in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
