Football Recap: Central Valley Warriors vs. Montour Spartans

Central Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 27-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Montour Spartans on Friday. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 24-14 to the Spartans when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Although Central Valley took the loss, they still got scores from Ethan Shearer and Braddock Ambrose.

Even if they lost, Central Valley's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Ethan Bosco was especially locked on to Montour's QB and sacked him twice.

Montour found their leader in sophomore Brandon Bennett, who threw for 211 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 38 yards and one TD. Caden Halajcio was another key player, rushing for 95 yards and one score.

Looking ahead, Central Valley is taking a road trip to challenge Thomas Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Montour, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Moon Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
