Basketball Game Preview: Mercy Prep Academy Royals vs. Faith Academy of Freestone Warriors

The Mercy Prep Academy Royals will take on the Faith Academy of Freestone Warriors at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Mercy Prep Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Mercy Prep Academy will head into Friday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big back in December of 2024 (they won by 28) and back in December of 2024 they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Excel Christian Academy, sneaking past 72-69.

Mercy Prep Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dylan Baker led the charge by putting up 12 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. That's the most assists Baker has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Eli Lawson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards.

Baker wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Mercy Prep Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Faith Academy of Freestone didn't have quite enough to beat Humble Christian on Friday and fell 52-49. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mercy Prep Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Faith Academy of Freestone, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
