Baseball Recap: Lake Region Gets the Win

While Lake Region's win against Lake Gibson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Thunder had just enough and edged out the Braves 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Thunder have posted since March 13, 2024.

Lake Region got a massive performance out of Gage Calcutt, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Calcutt is becoming a predictor of the Thunder's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jomar Caceres, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Lake Region was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Lake Region now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Lake Gibson, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-16.

Lake Region didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-0 win against Community School of Naples on the 4th. As for Lake Gibson, they will take on Davenport in a tournament on Wednesday.
