Softball Recap: Ridgemont Has No Trouble Against Arlington

Ridgemont barely beat Arlington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Golden Gophers were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Red Devils on Thursday. Considering the Golden Gophers have won four games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Aubrie Overly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Kylie Shreve was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiah Jones, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ridgemont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Ridgemont has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Arlington, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Looking ahead, Ridgemont will face off against North Baltimore at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Arlington, they will square off against Vanlue at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
