Volleyball Game Preview: Union Yellowjackets vs. West Lauderdale Knights

Union and West Lauderdale are an even 4-4 against one another since September of 2022, but not for long. The Yellowjackets will take on the Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Union made easy work of Northeast Lauderdale and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Union got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. The final score came out to 25-23, 31-29, 25-19.

Meanwhile, West Lauderdale waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Bulldogs 3-0. The Knights not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 21, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

One reason for the win was West Lauderdale's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-21, 25-16.

West Lauderdale had a senior duo take command as Kennedy Hicks had 19 digs and four assists and Kalie Miller had 19 assists and five digs. Hicks is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 17 every time she's taken the court this season.

Union's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for West Lauderdale, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Union took their win against West Lauderdale in their previous meeting back in August of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
