Basketball Game Preview: Tupelo Golden Wave vs. Starkville Yellowjackets

The Tupelo Golden Wave will square off against the Starkville Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Tupelo is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Clinton, who was ranked 25th at the time (Tupelo was ranked fourth). Everything went Tupelo's way against Clinton on Tuesday as Tupelo made off with a 57-35 victory. The win was nothing new for the Golden Wave as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Meanwhile, Starkville made easy work of Germantown on Tuesday and carried off a 56-34 victory.

Starkville is also on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Tupelo, they pushed their record up to 25-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Tupelo beat Starkville 64-54 when the teams last played on Friday. Will Tupelo repeat their success, or does Starkville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
