Volleyball Recap: R-S Central Starts Season with Defeat at Home

R-S Central unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 3-1 to the Polk County Wolverines on Tuesday. The Hilltoppers haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

R-S Central started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 15-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-16.

Alena Jimerson paced R-S Central's offense, picking up 12 kills. Jimerson got some help from Lucy Sherburne and her 29 assists. Sherburne was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Polk County found their leader in sophomore Reeve Carroll, who had 24 digs and two aces.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. R-S Central will host Crest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Polk County, they will challenge A.C. Reynolds at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
