Softball Recap: Minersville Comes Up Short

If Minersville was riding high fresh off their 21-1 takedown of Weatherly on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Battlin' Miners lost 14-4 to the Pottsville Crimson Tide on Wednesday. The Battlin' Miners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crimson Tide apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Payton Frantz was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Isabella Cruz also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Minersville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Pottsville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.

Coming up, Minersville will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Shenandoah Valley at 4:30 p.m. As for Pottsville, they are taking a road trip to challenge Blue Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Crimson Tide's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
