Softball Game Preview: South Bend Riley Wildcats vs. North Miami Warriors

The South Bend Riley Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the North Miami Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. South Bend Riley will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

South Bend Riley took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Brandywine, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bobcats on Friday, sneaking past 5-3.

ELLIANA GONZALES spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on RACHEL HUNT, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. VICTORYA HARMON was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South Bend Riley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but North Miami ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They skirted past Winamac 13-11. The game was the first time North Miami has beaten Winamac on their field since May 13, 2023.

South Bend Riley pushed their record up to 13-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Miami, their record now sits at 15-6.
